I was just arrested for an Illinois DUI. Does that mean I will lose my driver's license?

DUI arrests in Illinois result in an automatic suspension 46 days after the officer gives you a “Notice of Summary Suspension” (except under very rare circumstances).  A suspension is basically temporary, but you only have 90 days from the date of notice to file a petition to contest it.  In many cases, some temporary driving relief in the form of a Judicial Driving Permit may be available after the first 30 days of suspension.
However, if convicted of DUI, the Secretary of State of Illinois will revoke your driving privileges.  Restoration of your driver’s license after revocation is not as simple as ending a suspension, which simply requires payment of a fee.  In some cases, revocation can be permanent with no relief available. Obviously, in such situations, excellent representation by lawyers skilled in DUI defense in Illinois is a must.  Call 847-635-8200 now to schedule a free consultation.
